The East Asiatic Company Ltd - Regular Passenger and Freight Service (circa 1950)
Unknown Artist
Founded in 1897 and headquartered in Copenhagen, The East Asiatic Company initially focussed on developing routes from Denmark to Bangkok and elsewhere in the Far East. By the 1930's the company was active globally though its main focus remained on East Asia.
This poster shows a ship of the EAC in a harbour surrounded by Chinese junks of a southern Chinese style. Most likely the port is intended to be Hong Kong with the hills rising behind the ship, though the artist has chosen to leave that unspecified allowing the EAC to promote its services throughout the China region with this beautifully crafted poster.
