Fly Pan American to Hong Kong (1970)
Unknown photographer
Double size travel poster from a series issued by Pan Am from the late 1950’s through the mid 1960’s for many of the airline’s destinations worldwide. These posters were able to benefit from advances in colour photography to present large format photo based images to entice prospective tourist visitors to travel with the airline to far flung destinations.
This poster is dated 1970 in the printer's code but the photograph, which was taken on the hillside above Mount Butler Path, can be dated around 1959-1960 from the buildings in Central district. This highly detailed image, shot in large format, gives excellent detail of the Causeway Bay and Wanchai districts before they were extensively redeveloped in the 60’s and 70’s.
