Original Vintage Poster issued by Air India in 1963 and as noted on the poster this was winner of the 'World's Best Airline Poster ASTA Contest 1963'.

Air India's famous 'Maharajah' mascot was created in 1946 by Umesh Rao, an artist working for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency and he was used prominently by the airline for many years including on numerous poster advertising campaigns. Often poking fun at himself in a self-deprecating manner, the Maharajah is found posing around the world - here he is a Parisian street vendor offering photographs of himself from the flap of his long raincoat with the memorable tag-line "Pssst.....Naughty Pictures!!"

The Air India Maharajah posters have become highly collectible and this is one of the most sought after.
