Inde, La Kanchenjunga pres de Darjeeling (circa 1958)
Sobha Singh
At 8,586 metres, Kanchenjunga is the world's third highest mountain. It lies on the border between Nepal and the Indian province of Sikkim. The poster design has two Buddhist monks blowing Tibetan telescopic trumpets ("zangs dung"). Beyond are the Himilayan mountains.
Darjeeling, a major hill station and tea producing district in Northeast India lies about 80km south of Kanchenjunga.
Although this poster does not identify the artist, the earlier English language printing by Claridge & Co, Bombay, includes the artist, Sobha Singh's signature in the plate.
