Vintage original Chinese Propaganda poster encouraging Hong Kong supporters of the Chinese Government to stand up against British Rule. Printed in Shanghai, China, 1967. Linenbacked.
Rare.
The poster illustrates the support for Hong Kong Leftist riots against British colonial rule in 1967. Demonstrators clashed violently with the Hong Kong Police Force. Instigated by events in the People's Republic of China (PRC), leftists called for massive strikes and organised demonstrations, while the police stormed many of the leftists' strongholds and placed their active leaders under arrest.
The photograph shows the employees of the China Products Co., Ltd. holding a flag-hoisting ceremony in front of the store with Mao's Little Red Book in their hands. The poster was displayed on the left of the company banner, which is above the employees.
