Taken with a Hassselblad Xpan panoramic camera, this is the Irshan pass (4,995m, 16,500ft), which is technically one of the border passes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Paley describes this as: "My favorite place in the world, between states, sky and earth, defying borders. It was our second trip to Irshad pass. I went back six or seven times, in snow and wind, excitement to my stomach, a fleeting vision of heaven and then we must head down into the valley."
