Palani Mohan
A young mahout hods his elephant's trunk at the "elephant village" of Ban Ta Klang, Thailand.
Born in India in 1967, Palani Mohan moved to Sydney as a child. He began his photographic career there and has since been recognised with many of the world’s leading awards including from World Press Photo, Picture of the Year International, National Press Photographers’ Association, American Photo, Sony International and Communication Arts.
Asia is the heart and soul of Mohan’s work. From the eagle hunters of Mongolia and the Kushti mud wrestlers of India, to the rickshaw drivers of Calcutta and scenes from the streets of Hong Kong, he documents social issues and the lives and the stories of the region’s people.
