Compagnie Générale Transatlantique - "French Line"
Paul Colin (1892-1985)
A classic Paul Colin design with an image of the SS Normandie, which entered service in 1935 as the largest and fastest passenger ship afloat.
When war began in Europe in 1939, the Normandie sheltered from hostilities in New York. She was subsequently requisitioned by the US Government in December 1941 and pressed into war service, caught fire while operating as a troop ship in 1942 and was never returned to passenger service, eventually being scrapped in 1946.
Although this poster was only issued in 1948 it is based on an illustration created by Paul Colin in the 1930's.
