Carl Shreve was an American artist, journalist and adventurer. He travelled widely through Asia between 1933 and 1936 before landing in Australia. It was during this time that he produced a series of evocative paintings used by the Dutch K.P.M. Line for promotional and advertising purposes including corporate brochures and travel posters.
Shreve published his travel memoirs in 1940 as 'Distant Horizons: Reminiscences of Travel in the Far East'.
