RÃquet-Tee (1920s)
Ludwig Hohlwein
Not strictly a travel poster but rather a 1920s German tea advertisement
depicting an enlightened Buddha statue, Holhwein's effective use of colour and form brings this distinctly Asian imagery to life.
Ludwig Hohlwein (1874-1939) trained as an architect and practiced until 1906 when he began a new profession in poster design. Hohlwein swiftly established himself as one of the most prominent people working in the field with his accomplished designs featuring high tonal contrast and interlocking shapes.
