An original puzzle depicting a Short Empire flying boat, cut-away to view the interior splendour. The plane is Centaurus, registration GA-DUT. Centaurus was the third of the Empire flying boats produced and was delivered to Imperial Airways in September 1936.

Short Brothers introduced this plane in 1936 following demand from Imperial Airways (the fore-runner of British Airways) and it was employed by Qantas also as well. This was the plane that allowed Imperial to introduce long haul services to the further regions of the British Empire, including South Africa, Australia and Hong Kong.

The puzzle is complete with its backing board and original box. The box includes an image of the complete puzzle, with captions describing the various parts of the plane, internal and external. Puzzle in excellent condition, box rubbed and grubby but undamaged. Quite scarce.
