Yau Leung
1 August - 30 September, 2011
Exhibition Location:
3/F
The Landmark, Central
The exhibition presents a collection of photographs of Hong Kong by the famous local photographer, Yau Leung (1941-1997).
Yau Leung is widely regarded as one of Hong Kong's most significant and accomplished documentary photographers. Born in Hong Kong, he devoted himself to photographing street scenes and the daily lives of people in Hong Kong. Drawing stylistically on the great master of documentary photo-journalism, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Yau Leung captured the very soul and essence of Hong Kong. His photographs, nearly all of which are monochrome, are masterpieces of composition and light. His images are compelling as they transport us back to the 1960s.
