Robin Moyer has produced all of the prints for this exhibition himself by hand. Platinum printing is a very involved and technically complex process. The artist carefully hand coats the paper with photosensitive iron salts and platinum in a highly controlled tungsten light room. The sensitized paper is exposed to high intensity UV light for up to 40 minutes, and then, bearing a faint latent image, is immersed in a developing solution. The photographic image appears immediately. After cleaning and washing, the final print can only be evaluated when dry and if the artist/photographer is not satisfied the whole process must be repeated.
