Open Horizons - Journeys Across Mongolia Matthieu Paley 25 October - 12 November, 2011
This exhibition will open with a cocktail reception on Tuesday 25th October, from 6pm to 9pm.
The photographer will be present at the opening and will give a short presentation commencing at 7pm.
Matthieu Paley was born in France, spent three years studying photography in New York and has led a peripatetic life for much of the past twelve years in the highest and remotest regions of Asia. He took the photographs for Open Horizons – Journeys across Mongolia during several extended trips to the country since 1998. He has also spent prolonged periods immersed in the land and culture and photographing other remote mountainous regions of Asia including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Paley is regarded as possibly the finest young explorer-photographer working today in Asia. His photographs have appeared in numerous publications including National Geographic Adventure, Time, Vanity Fair and Le Figaro. He has held exhibitions of his work in Hong Kong, New York and Paris and his first monograph Mongolie – La Route de L’Horizon was published in Paris in 2010.
