First edition. Octavo, pp257. Brown cloth covered boards in original dust jacket, un-clipped (21s. net). A very well regarded evaluation of the First Opium War (1939-1841) by one of the 20th century's foremost China scholars. Book has some faint spotting to the end papers and a small bookseller's stamp (Harris Book Co., Hong Kong) to the rear end paper, otherwise clean internally and boards sharp and square. Jacket also in Very Good condition, a little browned to the spine and spotted to the rear panel.
