Two Volumes, First Editions. Volume 1 1947 & Volume 2, 1948. Quartos. Hard covers in bright green cloth with gilt titling to front boards and spines. Without dust jackets, as issued. The patterning of the cloth to each volume differs as called for. Volume 1: Introduction; and Craft of the Estuary and Shanghai Area. pp xxviii, 1-246. Volume II: The Craft of the Lower and Middle Yangtze and Tributaries. pp xvi, 247-506. Both volumes liberally illustrated with maps, charts, photographs, diagrams and drawings. China - The Maritime Customs - Miscellaneous Series No. 53 & 54. Worcester was River Inspector for the China Maritime Customs (a post previously held by Cornell Plant) and an acknowledged expert on the craft of the river. Near Fine Condition. A beautiful set.
