Very rare poster for Canadian Pacific Airlines designed by American illustrator and artist, Bern Hill. Hill is best remembered for his railroad posters, and here employs the same clean lines and mix of realism and abstraction to great effect.
In the background of the image is the instantly recognisable Diamond Head on the island of O'ahu in Hawaii.
Founded in 1942, Canadian Pacific Air Lines began flying to Sydney via Honolulu in 1949 using DC-4s as can be seen in the poster. These were replaced with the larger and more range efficient DC-6 from 1951.
